If you are in doubt about some of the check points, or if the solutions indicated in the chart do not solve the problem, refer tothe “Product information” on page 27. (Reference pages are shown in parentheses.)PowerNo operationSpecific operation impossible or incorrectNo power. ≥ Insert the AC power supply cord securely into the householdAC outlet. (8)The unit isautomaticallyswitched to thestandby mode.≥ When “Auto Power Off” is set to “On”, the unit automaticallyswitches to standby after approximately 30 minutes in thestop mode. (21)No responsewhen any buttonspressed.≥ This unit cannot play discs other than the ones listed inthese operating instructions. (4)≥ The unit may not be operating properly due to lightning,static electricity or some other external factor. Turn the unitoff and then back to ON. Alternatively, turn the unit off,disconnect the AC power supply cord, and then reconnect it.≥ Condensation has formed: Wait 1 to 2 hours for it toevaporate.No responsewhen remotecontrol buttonspressed.≥ Check that the batteries are installed correctly. (8)≥ The batteries are depleted: Replace them with new ones. (8)≥ Point the remote control at the remote control sensor andoperate. (9)No picture orsound.≥ Check the video or audio connection. (6-8)≥ Check the power or input setting of the connected equipment.≥ Check that the disc has something recorded on it.You haveforgotten yourratings password.Reset all the settingsto Factory Preset.≥ While stopped, press and hold [QUICK OSD] and [;] on theunit and then also press and hold [<OPEN/CLOSE] on theunit until “Initialized” disappears from the television. Turn theunit off and on again. All settings will return to the defaultvalues.It takes timebefore play starts.≥ Play may take time to begin when an MP3 track has stillpicture data. Even after the track starts, the correct play timewill not be displayed; however, this is normal.≥ This is normal on DivX video.The program andrandom playfunctions do notwork.≥ These functions do not work with some DVD-Videos.Menu doesn’tappear. [VCD] withplayback control≥ Press [∫] twice and then press [1] (PLAY).The on-screen menu shows“2” as a soundtrack optionwhen [AUDIO] is pressed,but the audio does notchange.≥This is normal on DVD-Audio. Even if a secondsoundtrack isn’t recorded, two numbers will beshown.Play doesn’t start. ≥This unit may not play WMA and MPEG4 thatcontains still picture data.≥If playing DivX VOD content, refer to thehomepage where you purchased the DivX VODcontent. (Example: www.divx.com/vod)≥If a disc contains CD-DA and other formats, properplayback may not be possible.Play restarts from thebeginning of the track whensoundtrack is changed.≥This is normal on DVD-Audio.Subtitle position is wrong. ≥ Adjust the position. (“Subtitle Position” in DisplayMenu) (19)No subtitles. ≥ Display the subtitles. (13)The subtitles overlap closedcaptions recorded on discs.≥ Clear the subtitles.
