Chapter 6Additional Operations 41Tone SettingsThe Tone Settings menu lets you customize your phone for use in specialsurroundings, or set the volume and tone of the phone’s ring. It also allowsyou to select a specific alert for the text messages you receive.Note: When the Private Handsfree Headset is connected, youcan customize the ring volume, key volume, and voice volumesettings for handsfree use. When you disconnect the PrivateHandsfree Headset, your phone will go back to the settingsprogrammed for standard handheld use.Ring VolumeSee “Setting Ring Volume” on page 14.Key Volume1 From standby, press (MENU) to enter the Main Menu.2 Scroll to Tone Settings and press (OK).3 Scroll to Key Volume and press (OK).• The display indicates the current key volume setting.• If you select the lowest setting, the key volume is muted (silent);however, DTMF tones are still sent.4 Press to increase key volume. Press to decrease key volume.5 When an acceptable volume is reached, press (OK) to select.Ring AlertSee “Selecting a Ring Alert” on page 14 for information on how to set yourring alert.Message AlertFor your message alert you can choose General Rings or Preset Melodyand then select from six general rings or ten melodies. Or, you can chooseNone if you do not want an audible alert when you receive a message.Selecting a Message Alert1 From standby, press (MENU) to enter the Main Menu.2 Scroll to Tone Settings and press (OK).3 Scroll to Message Alert and press (OK).4 Scroll to the message alert type you want to select and press (OK).• If you select General Rings, you can choose from six different rings. Asyou scroll through the rings, you can hear the ring associated with eachring number. When you hear the ring you want for your message alert,press (OK).• If you select Preset Melody, you can choose from ten melodies. As youscroll through the list, the melodies are played. When you hear themelody you want for your message alert, press (OK).• If you select None, you are prompted to confirm that you want nomessage alert to sound when you receive text messages. Press toconfirm.
