7. Answering Machine617.2 Recording yourgreeting messageYou can record your own greeting message forTAM/FAX mode, for a maximum of 16 seconds(default) or 60 seconds in length. Werecommend you record a message of less than12 seconds to make it easier to receive faxes. Ifa greeting message is not recorded, one of twopre-recorded greetings will be played when a callis received (page 61).Suggested message: “This is (your name). Weare unable to answer right now. To send a fax,start transmission. To leave a message for John,press{#} and{1}, for Jane press{#} and{2},for Jack press{#} and{3}. Or just stay on theline and leave a message after the beep. Thankyou.”1 Press and hold {GREETING} until the unitannounces “Record greeting after the beep.”.L A long beep will sound.2 Speak clearly about 20 cm (8 inches) awayfrom the microphone.L The display will show the remainingrecording time.3 When finished recording, press{GREETING}.L The unit will repeat your message.L You can also finish recording by pressing{STOP}.Note:L If 6 beeps sound and the unit announces“Your greeting was not recorded.
