Useful Information47Answering systemLiquid damageCaution:L To avoid permanent damage, do not use a microwave oven to speed up the dryingprocess.Problem Cause/solutionThe unit does not recordnew messages.L The answering system is turned off. Turn it on(page 31).L The message memory is full. Erase unnecessarymessages (page 33).L The recording time is set to “Greeting only”.Change the setting (page 36).L If you subscribe to a voice mail service, messagesare recorded by your service provider/telephonecompany, not your telephone. Change the unit’snumber of rings setting or contact your serviceprovider/telephone company (page 36).I cannot operate theanswering system.L Someone is using the unit. Wait for the other userto finish.L A caller is leaving a message. Wait for the caller tofinish.L The handset is too far from the base unit. Movecloser.I cannot operate theanswering systemremotely.L The remote access code is not set. Set the remoteaccess code (page 34).L You are entering the wrong remote access code. Ifyou have forgotten your remote access code,enter the remote access code setting to checkyour current code (page 34).L Press each key firmly.L The answering system is turned off. Turn it on(page 35).Problem Cause/solutionLiquid or other form ofmoisture has entered thehandset/base unit.L Disconnect the AC adaptor and telephone linecord from the base unit. Remove the batteriesfrom the handset and leave to dry for at least 3days. After the handset/base unit are completelydry, reconnect the AC adaptor and telephone linecord.
