Answering system settingsNumber of rings before the unitanswers a callYou can change the number of times thephone rings “Number of Rings” before theunit answers a call. You can select 2 to 9rings, or “Auto”.The default setting is “5 Rings”.“Auto”: The unit’s answering system answersat the end of the 2nd ring when newmessages have been recorded, or at the endof the 5th ring when there are no newmessages. If you call your phone from outsideto listen to new messages (page 36), youknow that there are no new messages whenthe phone rings for the 3rd time. You willneed to first subscribe or activate thisservice through your service provider/telephone company. Contact your serviceprovider/telephone company on how tooperate this service and how you will benotified that you have messages. To usethis service you will be required to leaveyour answering machine off on your unit(page 33). This will allow the service toreceive any messages.R To use the unit’s answering machine ratherthan the service provided by your serviceprovider/telephone company, pleasecontact your service provider/telephonecompany to have it removed or deactivatedpermanently or temporarily. Alternativelyyou can leave this service connected andchange the “Number of Rings” to ashorter duration on your unit so your unit’sanswering machine can pick up the callprior to the service provided by your serviceprovider/telephone company.Caller’s recording timeYou can change the maximum messagerecording time allowed for each caller.
