Answering System46*1 Call screening can be set for eachhandset.*2 This setting will be retained when thebase unit is reset.Number of rings before theunit answers a callYou can change the number of times thephone rings “Number of Rings”before the unit answers a call. You canselect 2 to 6 rings, or “Auto”.“Auto”: The unit’s answering systemanswers at the end of the 2nd ring whennew messages have been recorded, orat the end of the 5th ring when there areno new messages. If you call your phonefrom outside to listen to new messages(page 45), you know that there are nonew messages when the phone rings forthe 3rd time. It is necessary tocheck the number of rings requiredto activate the voice mail serviceprovided by your service provider/telephone company beforechanging this setting.– Change the number of rings of thevoice mail service so that theanswering system can answer thecall first.
