Activating/inactivating the remote access codeto play messagesIf you activate this feature, you must enter theremote access code (page 59) to play the newmessage from the new message alert call. This isso that unauthorized parties cannot listen to yourmessages. The default setting is “Inactivate”.– “Inactivate”: You can listen to the messageby pressing 4 to play new messages (withoutentering the remote access code).– “Activate”: You must enter your remoteaccess code (page 59) and then press 4 toplay new message.Handset / Base unit1 For line 1: MMENUN#3381For line 2: MMENUN#33822 MbN: “Remote code” a MSELECTN3 MbN: Select the desired setting. a MSAVEN4 Proceed with the operation for your unit.Handset: MOFFNBase unit: MEXITNListening to messagesAfter you answer the new message alert, you canlisten to the messages as follows.n When the remote access code is set to“Inactivate”:Press 4 to play the new message during theannouncement.n When the remote access code is set to“Activate”:1 Enter the remote access code (page 59)during the announcement.2 Press 4 to play the new message.Note:R Within 10 seconds after listening to newmessages, you can press #9 during the callto turn off the new message alert by a callfeature.R Even if the unit makes a new message alert call,the handset redial list does not show the record.However, on the base unit redial list it is shownas “Message alert”.Remote operationUsing a touch-tone phone, you can call yourphone number from outside and access the unit tolisten to messages or change answering systemsettings. The unit’s voice guidance prompts you topress certain dial keys to perform differentoperations.Remote access codeA 3-digit remote access code must be enteredwhen operating the answering system remotely.This code prevents unauthorized parties fromlistening to your messages remotely.
