It works as emergencypower during a power failure. The unitwill work as a standard telephone, sothat you can make or answer outsidecalls with the handset. (You cannot usethe speakerphone, intercom, etc.)1 Open the battery cover by sliding inthe direction of arrow (1), and takeout the battery snap (2).2 Match the polarity and snap thebattery to the battery snap as shown.3 Place the battery into the batterycompartment.4 Dress the battery snap wire, andclose the battery cover.Note:L Please refer to “Battery” on page 7 forcorrect battery usage.L When the display shows “LOW BATT”with a 9 V battery in the unit, thebattery needs to be changedimmediately. If the battery level is toolow, all LEDs might light up or flashand the unit is not guaranteed toperform as normal during a powerfailure. Replacing with a fresh batterywill restore normal function.L The Manganese (6F22) battery can beused but operating time when using itwill be dramatically shortened.L It is recommended that the battery isreplaced annually.L It is recommended that the battery isreplaced after a power outage.L The battery operating time maydepend on usage conditions, ambienttemperature, and battery quality.L During a power failure the battery willretain the clock memory (see “Dateand time” on page 24) and the redialmemory (see “Making a call using theredial list” on page 25).
