The camera may not beoperated normally or recording of picturesmay be disabled, or the lens may bedamaged.• Sand or dust may cause a malfunctionof the camera. When you use thecamera on a beach etc., take care sothat sand or dust does not get into thecamera.• When you use the camera on a rainy dayor on a beach, take care so that waterdoes not get into the camera.• If seawater splashes onto the camera,wet a soft cloth with tap water, wring itwell, and use it to wipe the camerabody carefully. Then, wipe it again witha dry cloth.∫ About the LCD monitor/Viewfinder• Do not press the LCD monitor strongly.It may cause uneven colors on the LCDmonitor or a malfunction of the LCDmonitor.• In a place with drastic temperaturechanges, condensation may form on theLCD monitor. Wipe it with a soft, dry cloth.• If the camera is extremely cold when youturn the camera on, the image on theLCD monitor/Viewfinder is slightly darkerthan usual at first. However, as theinternal temperature increases, it goesback to the normal brightness.∫ About the Lens• Do not direct the lens to the sun or stronglight sources. It may cause not only amalfunction of the camera but irreversibledamage to your eye.• Do not press the lens strongly.• Leaving the camera with the lens facingthe sun may cause a malfunction. Becareful when you put the camera outsideor near a window.∫ About CondensationCondensation takes place when theambient temperature or humidity ischanged as follows:Be careful of condensation since it causesstains on the lens, fungus or malfunction.(P109)• When the camera is brought inside fromthe cold to a warm room.• When the camera is moved from outsideto an air-conditioned car.• When cool wind from an air conditioner orother is directly blown onto the camera.• In humid places∫ If you will not be using the camera fora long time• Store the battery in a cool and dry placewith a relatively stable temperature.(Recommended temperature: 59oF – 77oF(15oC – 25oC), Recommended humidity:40% – 60%)• Be sure to remove the battery and thecard from the camera.• When the battery is left inserted in thecamera for a long time, discharge takesplace even if the camera is turned off. Ifyou leave the battery inserted for anextended period of time, it will beexcessively discharged and it maybecome unusable even after it is charged.• To store the battery for a long period oftime, we recommend charging it onceevery year and storing it again after youcompletely use up the charged capacity.• When you keep the camera in a closet ora cabinet, we recommend storing it withthe desiccant (silica gel).Extremely high precision technology isemployed to produce the LCD monitor/Viewfinder screen.
