Recording pictures (advanced)71You can select 3 types of quality(compression rate) according to the usageof the picture.• When the quality is set to [TIFF], a JPEGpicture with the quality equal to thestandard is created at the same time.• Pictures may have a mosaic-likeappearance depending on the subject orthe recording condition.• The number of recordable picturesdepends on the subject.• The number of remaining pictures may notcorrespond with recorded frames.• The following functions cannot be used forpictures recorded in [TIFF].– Auto bracket– Burst mode– [AUDIO REC.]– [ROTATE]– [AUDIO DUB.]– [RESIZE]– [TRIMMING]• Refer to P18 for the number of recordablepictures.You can take a picture with audio.• When you set [AUDIO REC.] to [ON],[ ] appears on the screen.• When you start recording by focusing onthe subject and pressing the shutterbutton, the audio recording will beautomatically stopped in 5 seconds. Thereis no need to keep pressing the shutterbutton.• Audio is recorded from the built-inmicrophone of the camera.• If you press the [MENU] button during theaudio recording, the audio recording willbe canceled. The audio cannot berecorded.• You cannot record pictures with audio inauto bracket, burst mode or when thequality is set to [TIFF].• When audio is recorded with each picture,the total number of pictures that can bestored on each card will slightly decrease.Quality [QUALITY]TIFF (Uncompressed)This type is suitable when editingand processing pictures with retouchsoftware.Fine (Low compression):This type gives priority to picturequality.
