Basic25VQT1X05Taking Pictures Using the Automatic Function(Intelligent Auto Mode)Recording mode: 4The camera automatically sets the appropriate settings according to the subject andrecording condition. This mode is recommended for beginners to take pictures easily.MODE• The following functions are activatedautomatically.– Scene detection/[STABILIZER]/Face detection/BacklightCompensation• The status indicator A lights whenyou turn this unit on B. (It turns offafter about 1 second.)C Shutter buttonD Recording/playback switch1 Slide the recording/playback switch to [1] andpress [MODE].2 Press e/r to select [INTELLIGENT AUTO] andthen press [MENU/SET].This mode is for Intelligent Auto Mode.• You can also select this mode using [4] button.• Press this button again to return to the previous mode.3 Hold this unit gently with both hands, keep your arms still at yourside and stand with your feet slightly apart.E FlashF AF assist lamp4 Press the shutter button halfway to focus.• Refer to “Focusing” (P29) for details.• The focus indication G lights green when the subject is focused.HG• The AF area H is displayed around the subject’s faceby the face detection function. In other cases, it isdisplayed at the point on the subject which is in focus.• The focus range is 5 cm (0.17 feet)(Wide)/50 cm(1.64 feet)(Tele) to 7.• The maximum close-up distance (the shortestdistance at which the subject can be taken) differsdepending on the zoom magnifi cation.5 Press the shutter button fully (push it in further), and takethe picture.• The access indication (P15) lights red when pictures are beingrecorded on the built-in memory (or the card).
