ENGLISH -51 Care and maintenance50-ENGLISHLamp unit replacement procedure# Turn off the MAIN POWERswitch according to theprocedure given in “Turning offthe power” on page 24, andthen disconnect the mains leadplug from the mains socketand check that the area aroundthe lamp unit has cooled down.$ Use a Phillips screwdriver toturn the lamp unit cover fixingscrews at the bottom of theprojector, and then remove thelamp unit cover from theprojector.% Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosenthe two lamp unit fixing screws untilthe screws turn freely. Then holdthe handle of the lamp unit andgently pull it out from the projector.& Insert the new lamp unit whilemaking sure that the directionof insertion is correct, and thenuse a Phillips screwdriver tosecurely tighten the lamp unitfixing screws.When inserting the new lampunit, be sure to push it in at thepoint A and B.Lamp indicator warninglightOn-screen displayThe projector will enterStandby Mode and thered indicator lamp willilluminate.Displayed for 30seconds. Be careful whenhandling the lamp.B After having removed the oldlamp, carelessly discarding it cancause the lamp to burst. Disposeof the lamp with the same carethat would be taken with afluorescent light.B A Phillips screwdriver isnecessary for removing the lampunit. Make sure that your handsare not slippery when using thescrewdriver.Lamp unit replacementperiodThe lamp is a consumable product.Even when the full life of the bulbhas not been exhausted, thebrightness of the light will graduallydecline. Therefore periodicreplacement of the lamp isnecessary.The intended lamp replacementinterval is 2000 hours, but it ispossible that the lamp may need tobe replaced earlier due to variablessuch as a particular lamp’scharacteristics, usage conditionsand the installation environment.Early preparation for lampreplacement is encouraged.A lamp that has exceeded 2000hours of use has a much greaterchance of exploding. In order toprevent the lamp from exploding,the lamp will be automatically shutoff when 2000 hours of use havebeen reached.NOTE:B The projector is not suppliedwith a replacement lamp unit.Please ask your dealer fordetails.
