23 TroubleshootingTroubleshooting (Basic)Follow the instructions below when a problem has occurred. There is also an advanced troubleshooting guide in the“Reference Manual”. For a software problem, refer to the software’s instruction manual. If the problem persists, con-tact Panasonic Technical Support (Î pages 32 - 36). You can also check the computer’s status in the PC InformationViewer (Î Reference Manual “Troubleshooting (Advanced)”). Starting UpCannot start up.The power indicator or bat-tery indicator is not lit.z Connect the AC adaptor.z Insert a fully charged battery.z Remove the battery pack and the AC adaptor, then connect them again.z If a device is connected to the USB port, disconnect the device, or set [USB Port] or[Legacy USB Support] to [Disable] in the [Advanced] menu of the Setup Utility.z If a device is connected to the ExpressCard slot, disconnect the device, or set[ExpressCard Slot] to [Disable] in the [Advanced] menu of the Setup Utility.z Press Fn + F8 to turn off the concealed mode.The power is turned on but“Warming up the system (upto 32 minutes)” appears.z The computer is warming up before start up. Wait for the computer to start up (takesup to 32 minutes). If, “Cannot warm up the system” is displayed, the computer failed towarm up and will not start. In this case, turn off the computer, leave it in an environmentof 5 °C {41 °F} or higher temperature for about an hour, and then turn on the poweragain.Cannot turn on the computer.The computer does not re-sume from sleep.(The power indicator blinksquickly in green.)z Leave it in an environment of 5 °C {41 °F} or higher temperature for about an hour, thenturn on the power again.After adding or changingthe RAM module, the poweris turned on but nothing isdisplayed on the screen.z Turn off the computer and remove the RAM module, then confirm whether the RAMmodule has compliant to specification. When the RAM module has conformed to specifi-cation, install it again.The computer does notenter sleep mode while thescreen saver is running. (Thescreen stays black.)z Slide and hold the power switch for four seconds or longer to shut down the computerforcibly. (Data not saved will be lost.) Then disable the screen saver.You have forgotten the pass-word.z Supervisor Password or User Password: Contact Panasonic Technical Support(Î pages 32 - 36).z Administrator password:y If you have a password reset disk, you can reset the administrator password. Set thedisk and enter any wrong password, then follow the on-screen instructions and set anew password.y If you do not have a password reset disk, reinstall (Î page 21) and set up Windows,and then set a new password.“Remove disks or othermedia. Press any key torestart” or a similar messageappears.z A floppy disk is in the drive (optional) and it does not contain system startup information.Remove the floppy disk and press any key.z If a device is connected to the USB port, disconnect the device, or set [USB Port] or[Legacy USB Support] to [Disable] in the [Advanced] menu of the Setup Utility.z If a device is connected to the ExpressCard slot, disconnect the device, or set[ExpressCard Slot] to [Disable] in the [Advanced] menu of the Setup Utility.z If the problem persists after removing the disk, it may be a hard disk failure. ContactPanasonic Technical Support (Î pages 32 - 36).Windows startup and opera-tion is slow.z Press F9 in the Setup Utility (Î Reference Manual “Setup Utility”) to return theSetup Utility settings (excluding the passwords) to the default values. Start the SetupUtility and make the settings again. (Note that the processing speed depends on the ap-plication software, so this procedure may not make Windows faster.)z If you installed a resident software after purchase, turn off the residence.The date and time are incor-rect.z Make the correct settings.Click (Start) - [Control Panel] - [Clock, Language, and Region] - [Date and Time].z If the problem persists, the internal clock battery may need to be replaced. ContactPanasonic Technical Support (Î pages 32 - 36).z When the computer is connected to LAN, check the date and time of the server.z The 2100 A.D. or later year will not be correctly recognized on this computer.
