PROBLEM GUIDECheck the following before judging that VDR-M70/M50 is faulty.SymptomBattery cannot be charged.Battery weakens fast.The CHARGE indicator onAC adapter/charger isblinking.Power turns off immediatelyafter being turned on.Power goes off unexpectedly.Power cannot be turned off.Cause and CorrectionIs the DC power cord connected to AC adapter/charger?Unplug it. If the DC power cord is connected, the AC adapter/charger will notenter the charge status.Is the battery abnormally hot?Remove the battery from AC adapter/charger, leave it as is until it cools down,and then charge it again.Has the battery been unused for a long time?Remove the battery from AC adapter/charger, and then reattach it. If thebattery is still not charged, it may be dead: Purchase a new one.***** If the battery does not charge after you try the above four procedures, it maybe dead: Purchase a new battery.Is the ambient temperature is too low or high?Always charge the battery at 50 - 86°F (10 - 30°C.)Are you using the VDR-M70/M50 where the temperature is low?A fully charged battery may be discharged sooner than usual at lowtemperatures. Keep extra batteries on hand.Battery may be dead: Replace with a new one.The performance of battery will deteriorate if it is used for an extended period oftime or frequently.Is the ambient temperature is too low or high?Always charge the battery at 50 - 86°F (10 - 30°C.)The battery may be over-discharged.Continue charging: The CHARGE indicator will change to a steady light, andthe battery will be charged normally.Is battery charged?Charge it.Is Power Save specified "On"?The specifications state that the powered VDR-M70/M50 automaticallyturns off if it is left for as long as 5 minutes without performing recording orplayback, with "Power Save: On" specified. Set the power switch to "POWEROFF", and then turn VDR-M70/M50 on again. To stop automatic poweroff, specify "Power Save: Off".Execute system reset (disconnect the battery or AC adapter/charger, and thenuse a fine tipped pen, etc. to hold down the RESET button for several seconds).Then connect a battery or AC adapter/charger and make sure the VDR-M70/M50 accepts operation.System reset will return the date/time and all items set using menu (except forLCD settings) to the defaults at the factory.
