(Fig. 12)D Note:If you do not switch off the machine, itswitches off automatically after 30 minutes.6 Cleaning the milkcontainer unitIt is important that you clean the milk containerunit regularly and thoroughly. Only a properlycleaned milk container unit performs well andproduces consistently good frothing results.1 If you do not plan to brew a coffee varietywith milk again straightaway, rinse the milkcontainer within 30 minutes after use.2 After the last use of the day, clean all partsof the milk container unit thoroughly.To clean the milk container unit properly, followthe procedure described below.D Note:If you are unable to obtain high-quality milk froth,the milk container unit is probably dirty.6.1 Rinsing after every use• The CLEAN indicator lights up to remind youto rinse the milk container unit each time afteryou have used the machine to brew a coffeevariety with milk (Fig. 27).2 Remove the coffee pod or pods after use bylifting the pod holder out of the machine andemptying it.Be careful when you do this, as there may stillbe some water or coffee on the coffee podor pods.5.9.1 Coffee varieties with milkEach coffee variety with milk has its owndistinctive brewing process:• Cappuccino f is a rich combination of one-third coffee and two-thirds of freshly frothedhot milk with a creamy froth layer. When youbrew a cappuccino, your cup is first filled withhot milk froth and then strong black coffee isbrewed onto the froth. This causes the coffeeto sink below the froth layer.D Note:It is not possible to brew 2 cups of cappuccinoat the same time. If you want to brew 2 cups ofcappuccino, you have to fill the milk containerup to the 2-cup cappuccino indication andbrew two cups of cappuccino after each otherby pressing the 1-cup button n.• Latte macchiato g is a 3-layer drink. Itcontains more milk than coffee. When youbrew a latte macchiato, the machine first fillsyour cup with hot milk and milk froth andthen stops for 15 seconds. During this time themilk sinks below the froth. Then the machinebrews black coffee, which also sinks below thefroth and settles above the layer of hot milk.• Caffè latte b is a drink that contains milk andcoffee in more or less equal amounts. Whenyou brew a caffè latte, your cup is first filledwith coffee and then hot frothed milk is added.D Note: (Fig. 27)Each time you have used the milk container unitto brew a coffee variety with milk, the CLEANindicator lights up to remind you to rinse the milkcontainer unit if you no longer intend to brew acoffee variety with milk straightaway.
