62 63EDITDouble-clicking on a device in the Device Added portion of the window will displayinformation regarding the connected remote device. Making any changes within this windowwill not change anything on the camera or remote device itself. To make those changes, youwill need to access the camera or other remote device (such as a DVR) directly, or throughone of the remote methods described in the Remote Monitoring Guide.Once you have made those changes, you will need to update the user name and passwordwithin the Edit window. Failing to change these in this window will result in an on-screenmessage about incorrect password and may lock you out of the IP camera for a period of 30minutes in the case of QC-Series cameras - other brands may vary.It is important that you do not remove thedevice you are making the changes uponfrom the list of connected devices beforeediting the information in the Edit window. Ifyou later remove the device from the list andwish to reconnect, you will need to do sousing the Manual Add feature as describedbelow.PICTURE 4-28PICTURE 4-29IMPORTANT! To avoid connection issues, you should not change theinformation within the Edit window unless you have first made those changesto the remote device itself.CONFIGURING IP CAMERASYou can configure the settings of an IP camera by clicking on the appropriate camera iconunder the IPC Config column. This will open a new window allowing you access to thecamera’s settings. You can optimize your camera’s video to compensate for unusual lightingin the area or other factors. When the Manual radiobutton is selected, you can adjust thegain using the slider.Brightness, Contrast, Hue and Saturation -These adjustments operate similarlyto those on a television or monitor.Mirror and Flip - Individual circumstances can force users to mount their cameras in non-standard or less-than-ideal positions. And, sometimes, a user will realize that theymounted their camera upside down after they’ve put the ladder and tools away.Enable Mirror to switch the image left to right. Flip will turn the image upside down.BLC Mode - BLC, or Back Light Compensation enables the camera to adjust its settings sothat a subject in front of a light source - such as a window - does not appear as adarkened, featureless figure.Profile - These are a combination pre-configured settings that allow you to quickly optimizea camera to certain lighting conditions. It is useful if the area where your camera islocated has a unique lighting situation. There is also the option to set up your ownUser-Defined settings. In this mode, you can adjust the red and blue balance, setwhen the camera will switch over to day (color) or night (black and white) mode andadjust the camera’s electronic shutter speed using the Exposure option. This lattersetting will increase or decrease the amount of light entering the camera.After making your changes, click on Save to preserve them. You can also revert back to thefactory settings by clicking Default.
