SERIES 8800 & 8900 INSTALLATION AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONSPage 27TROUBLE-SHOOTING FLOW CHART FOR HONEYWELLOR UTC IGNITION MODULE (24V CONTROL SYSTEM)Manifold pressure in properrange (3.5”-4.2” N.G.,10”-11” L.P.). If no pressure onmanifold, during main flametrial for ignition period, checkfor pressure at tappings of eachmain valve. Replace valvethat shows no pressure atdownstream tapping whilepowered with pressure atupstream tapping.24V at terminals ofall valves in maingas trainCheck for loose orbroken wire betweenmain valves andMV-MV/PV terminals.Replacemodule.With pilot lit: 24Vbetween the MV andMV/PV terminals ofthe moduleReplace the pilotassembly.Replace pilot solenoidvalve.Main FlameIgnitesInsure pilot line andpilot orifice are clearand that the pilot isundamaged. The pilotignites.Pilot valve opens.Confirm that gas ispresent at pilot valveinlet.Check for loose orbroken wire betweenpilot valve andPV-MV/PV terminals.24V at pilot gasvalve leadsReplacemodule.Adjust the pilot gaspressure using thepilot regulator. Pilotignition problemscan be caused byhigh or low pilotpressure.Pilot ignitesDuring pilot ignition period (audible spark present) checkfor 24V between PV and MV/PV terminals of module.Check for loose or broken ignition lead. Check for shorted pilot electrode. If pilot and ignition lead test good replace module.A tripped manual resethigh limit mayindicate insufficientwater flow.Check for open limit in this 24V circuitoperating control, high limit, flow switch,LWCO, high / low gas pressure switches, remote operating controls, etc.Check for broken or looseconnection to transformer, if nonereplace transformer.Check for tripped breaker or open safety/ limit switch in supply voltage circuit.Proper line voltageL1 to L2 on heaterterminal strip24V on secondaryterminals of heatertransformer24V across 24V and 24V(GND) terminals ofignition moduleOn application of 24V,control produces audiblespark at pilotPilotIgnites
