Chapter 1 21Connections & SetupWhat to ExpectThe next time you are in TV mode, the GUIDE Plus+ system will appear on the screen. Thefollowing examples explain what you might see:• If all of the program information has been sent to your TV, the GUIDE Plus+ systemappears with all of your TV program listings.• If the program information hasn’t been sent to your TV yet, an outline of the GUIDE(without TV program listings) will appear on the screen. Program information is usuallysent to your TV at night.• If the TV detected that you have multiple cable companies in your area, STEP 5: ChoosingYour Channel Lineup appears.Features of the GUIDE Plus+ system are explained in Chapter 3.To clear the guide from your screen, press CLEAR or GUIDE on the remote control.This is the Automatic LanguageSelection Screen. English is thedefault language, and automaticallyappears highlighted when thescreen comes up.Set the DVD Menu LanguageThe first time you are in DVD mode, the Automatic Language Selection Screenappears.By default, the DVD’s on-screen displays are shown in English. If you want theon-screen menus to appear in English, press OK on the remote.To change the language:1. Press the down arrow button on the remote until the appropriate languageis highlighted.2. Press OK on the remote.This screen sets all language preferences for on-screen displays to the samelanguage. You can use the DVD’s menu system to set individual languagepreferences (see Chapter 4).Setting Other OptionsThe DVD’s menu system contains many options which can enhance your discviewing and listening experience. These options include:• ratings limits• language preferences• audio preferences• display optionsFor more information on menu options, see Chapter 4.
