7CONNECTING THE WIREANTENNABesides the DIRECTION FINDER anten-na and the built-in telescoping antenna,the radio comes with a separate wire an-tenna (about 10 feet long) for receptionwhen you listen to the shortwave bands(SW or SW2). To connect the antenna,simply insert the antenna’s plug intoANT on the front of the radio.For the best reception when using thewire antenna, fully extend the antennaand run it outside through a window (ifpossible).Note: If you lose or damage the sup-plied wire antenna, you can replace itwith a shortwave antenna kit available atyour local RadioShack store.ATTACHING THE CARRYSTRAPThe radio comes with a carry strap thatyou can easily attach and use to carrythe radio with you almost anywhere yougo. Follow these steps to attach eachend of the supplied strap to the hangerbars on the radio.1. Insert one end of the strap into thehanger bar on one side of the radio.2. Loop the strap end around the barand pull up on the strap.3. Insert the strap end into the lowerpart of the buckle.4.
