If you are using an extension cord (powercable) make sure it is grounded as well. Ground the chassis of theIDU-E, IDU-C and the AIND via the protective terminal.Any interruption of the protective (grounding) conductor (inside oroutside the instrument) or disconnecting of the protective earthterminal can make this unit dangerous. Intentional interruption isprohibited.Disconnection of the protective earth terminals is allowed only afterdisconnection of the power and connectors ”Trunk-1” to ”Trunk-4.WarningConnecting Power to an IDUPower is supplied to the WinLink1000 IDU via an external AC/DCconverter, which receives power from a 100–240 VAC source andconverts it to -48 VDC.Æ To connect power to the IDUs:1. At site A, connect the 2-pin connector of the AC/DC converter tothe 2-pin DC power connector on the IDU rear panel.2. Connect the AC/DC converter 3-prong plug to a mains outlet.The unit turns on automatically upon connection to the mains.The green PWR indicator turns on, and the IDU indicator blinksorange for approximately 40 seconds during startup. SeeNormal Indicators section in Chapter 3.After approximately 20 seconds the ODU starts beeping. Thebeeps continue until the ODUs are aligned and the link set up.3.
