15Conventional oven (top andbase heat)This function combines the heat from the topand base elements. It is particularly suitable forroasting and baking pastry, cakes and biscuits.Food cooked on the top shelf will brown andcrisp faster than on the lower shelf, because theheat is greater at the top of the oven than at thebase, as in ‘Fan assisted oven’ function. Similaritems being cooked will need to be swappedaround for even cooking. This means that foodsrequiring different temperatures can be cookedtogether, using the cooler zone in the lower halfof the oven and hotter area to the top.Browning elementThis function uses the element in the topof the oven only. It is a useful function for thebrowning or fi nishing of pasta dishes, vegetablesin sauce, shepherds pie and lasagne, the item tobe browned being already hot before switchingto the top element.Base heatThis function uses the base element only.It will crisp up your pizza or quiche base orfi nish off cooking the base of a pastry case on alower shelf. It is also a gentle heat, good for slowcooking of casseroles in the middle of the ovenor for plate warming.The Browning and Base heat functions areuseful additions to your oven, giving youfl ex i bili ty to fi nish off items to perfection. Withuse, you will soon realise how these functionscan combine to extend your cooking skills.HandyrackThe maximum weight than can be held by theHandyrack is 5.5kg (12lb). It should only be usedwith the supplied meat tin, which is designedto fi t the Handyrack. Any other vessel could beunstable.The Handyrack fi ts on the oven door. Foodcooking on it is easy to attend to, because it’saccessible when the door is open. It can be fi ttedat two different heights. One of the oven shelvesmust be removed and the other positioned tosuit.When the Handyrack is used in its highestposition, other dishes can be cooked on thebottom shelf position of the oven or standing onthe base of the ovenWhen the Handyrack is used in its lowestposition, other dishes can be cooked on thesecond shelf position of the oven or standing onthe base of the oven.To fi t the Handyrack,locate one side of iton the door bracket.Then spring theother side out toclip it onto the otherbracket.
