en-83 SAFETY3.1 HOW TO OPERATE SAFELY ____________________________________________3.1.1 Safe operationa) Read the instructions carefully. Know thecontrols and the correct use of theequipment;b) Children or persons who do not understandthese instructions must not use thelawnmower. The Local regulations can limitthe age of the operator;c) Never use a mower near persons, includingchildren, or animals;d) Remember that the operator or user isresponsible for accidents or hazards thatoccur to other persons or their property.e) Do not carry passengers;f) all drivers must get instruction. Thatinstruction must include:- The need for Careful attention when youuse a ride-on machines;- Control of a ride-on machine that slides ona slope is not got by the application of thebrake.The primary reasons for loss of control are:i) Not enough wheel grip;ii) Being driven too fast;iii) Not enough brake use;iv) The type of machine is wrong for the job;v) No awareness of the results of groundconditions which include slopes;vi) Incorrect hitch and load distribution.3.1.2 Preparationa) when you operate a mower, always wearstrong footwear and long trousers. Do notoperate the equipment without shoes orwearing sandals;b) completely inspect the area where theequipment is to be used and remove allobjects that can be ejected by the machine;c) WARNING - Petrol is very flammable.- Store fuel in containers specially for thispurpose;- Refuel outdoors only and do not smokewhen you add fuel;- Refuel the machine before you start theengine. When the engine is in operation, donot remove the cap of the fuel tank or addpetrol if the engine is hot;- If you spill petrol, do not try to start theengine, but move the machine away fromthe area. Do not allow any means ofignition until petrol vapor's have beenremoved;- Replace all fuel tank and container capscorrectly;d) Replace silencers with defects;e) Visually inspect the machine before youuse, to see that the blades, blade bolts andcutter assembly are not worn or damaged.Replace worn or damaged blades andbolts in sets to keep balance;f) On machines with many blades, be carefulwhen you rotate one blade, it can causeother blades to rotate.3.1.3 Operationa) Do not operate the engine in a closedspace where dangerous carbon monoxidefumes can increase to dangerous levels;b) Use a mower only in daylight or in goodartificial light;c) Before you start the engine, disengage allblade attachment clutches and shift intoneutral;d) Do not use on slopes of more than thepublished angle;NOTE, the published angle is calculated as shownin EN 836 4.2.4.2.3.2.e) Remember there is no safe slope. Travelon grass slopes needs special precaution.WARNINGEQUIPMENT OPERATED INCORRECTLY OR BY UNTRAINED PERSONNEL CAN BE DANGEROUS.Familiarize yourself with the location and proper use of all controls. Inexperienced operators should receiveinstruction from someone familiar with the equipment before being allowed to operate the machine.!
