10.11 AIS alarmsThe AIS functions generate a number of alarms to alert you todangerous or lost targets.In addition to the dangerous target alarm previously described, thesystem generates an alarm when a dangerous target becomes alost target i.e. its signal has not been received for 20 seconds.Your AIS receiver generates local alarms which are displayed andsounded on your multifunction display whenever an alarm conditionexists on the unit.Local AIS alarmsWhen the connected AIS unit generates an alarm, your multifunctiondisplay shows a local alarm message and indicates the alarm statusin the data bar icon.Active AIS alarms listThe active alarm list shows the status of each local alarm. This listcan either be accessed via the Menu > AIS Layer Setup Menu, orfrom the Menu > Alarms Setup Menu.Note: When local AIS alarms are acknowledged, the targetis shown as dangerous (flashing, with a red outline), and theactive alarm status icon is displayed until the target is no longerdangerous.Acknowledging AIS alarmsIn the chart or radar application:1. Press the ACKNOWLEDGE softkey.Note: An AIS alarm remains active until it is acknowledged onyour multifunction display.10.12 Buddy trackingYou can configure your display to notify you when an AIS-equippedfriend or “buddy” comes within range of your vessel.The Buddy Tracking feature enables you to add AIS-equippedfriends and regular contacts to a “Buddy List” on your multifunctiondisplay.
