The backlit LCD displays camera parameter values and illuminates for operation in thedark. Insert a REDVOLT in the DSMC Side Handle to power the DSMC, modules, and attached accessories.Inserting a REDVOLT in the DSMC Side Handle also enables you to hot swap batteries and power sources con-nected to the SEARAY and DC IN power connectors on the BRAIN.For more information, see the DSMC Operation Guide, available at www.red.com/downloads.NOTE: Upgrading your DSMC to v5.3 also upgrades the DSMC Side Handle. During the upgrade, you will be in-structed to shut down the DSMC twice so that the firmware upgrades successfully. Any DSMC Side Handle thatis upgraded to v5.3 can only be used with DSMCs running v5.2 or later. In order to use a DSMC Side Handlewith v5.1 after you’ve upgraded it to v5.3, first downgrade to v5.2, and then downgrade to v5.1.INSERT A REDVOLT1. Press the battery door release button on the top of the DSMC Side Handle to open the battery door.2. Press up on the red retainer and insert a REDVOLT battery until it is fully seated.3. Close the DSMC Side Handle battery door.REMOVE A REDVOLT1. Press the battery door release button on the top of the DSMC Side Handle to open the battery door.2. Press up on the red retainer.3.
