(3.45 kPa).INSTALLATION INTO ASOLID FUEL BURNINGFIREPLACE ORFACTORY BUILTFIREPLACEThe U32-10 Gas Inserts have been tested andapproved to be vented into any masonry fireplaceor approved solid fuel burning factory builtfireplace that will allow the insert to physicallyfit into the firebox. Refer to "Minimum FireplaceDimensions" section for minimum fireplaceclearances.If the factory built fireplace* height is too low foryour Insert, you may remove the smoke baffleplate, damper, refractory (firebricks), glassdoors, screen rails, screen mesh and log gratesfrom the factory built fireplace as long as theseitems are saved and are reinstalled in the eventthat the Insert is removed.Smoke shelves, shields and baffles may beremoved if attached by mechanical fasteners.If any part is removed it must not weaken thestructural integrity of the factory built fireplace.NOTE: Any alterations made to the listed solidfuel burning factory built fireplace may void thelisting of the fireplace.*Check with your local inspector beforecommencing with this installation.BEFORE YOU STARTSafe installation and operation of this appliancerequires common sense, however, we arerequired by the Canadian Safety Standardsand ANSI Standards to make you aware ofthe following:General Safety Information1) The appliance installation must conformwith local codes or in the absence of localcodes, with CAN/CGA B149 (in Canada) orthe National Fuel Gas Code ANSI Z223.1 inthe U.S.A. This appliance should be installedby a qualified gas fitter technician only.2) Installation and repair should be doneby a qualified service person.3) The appliance should be inspected beforeuse and at least annually by a professionalservice person. More frequent cleaningmay be required due to excessive lint fromcarpeting, bedding material, animal hair, etc.It is imperative that control compartments,burners and circulating air passageways ofthe appliance be kept clean.4) See general construction and assemblyinstructions. This appliance may only beinstalled in a vented, noncombustiblefireplace.5) This appliance is Listed for bedroominstallations when used with a Listed MillivoltThermostat. Some areas may have furtherrequirements, check local codes beforeinstallation.6) Always connect this insert to a vent systemventing to the outside of the buildingenvelope. Never vent to another room orinside a building. Make sure that the ventis properly sized and is of adequate heightto provide the proper draft.7) Inspect the venting system annually forblockage and any signs of deterioration.8) Any glass removed for servicing must bereplaced prior to operating the appliance.9) To prevent injury, do not allow anyone whois unfamiliar with the operation to use thefireplace.10) Due to high temperatures, the applianceshould be located out of high traffic areasand away from furniture and draperies.Children and adults should be alerted tothe hazards of high surface temperatures,especially the fireplace glass and goldtrims, and should stay away to avoid burnsor clothing ignition. Young children shouldbe carefully supervised when they are inthe same room as the appliance. Clothingor other flammable material should not beplaced on or near the appliance.Emissions from burning wood or gas couldcontain chemicals known to the State ofCalifornia to cause cancer, birth defects orother reproductive harm.Installer must mechanically attach the suppliedlabel to the inside of the firebox of the fireplaceinto which the gas fireplace insert is installed."WARNING: This fireplace has been convertedfor use with a gas fireplace insert only andcannot be used for burning wood or solid fuelsunless all original parts have been replaced,and the fireplace re-approved by the authorityhaving jurisdiction."
