Regency ® L900 Direct Vent Gas Fireplace40OPERATIONOPERATING INSTRUCTIONSNOTE: The control knob is located on theright hand side of the firebox behind theright side exterior brick panel.1) Push in gas control knob slightly and turnclockwise to “OFF”. Knob cannot be turnedfrom “PILOT” to “OFF” unless knob is pushedin slightly. Do not force.2) Wait fi ve (5) minutes to clear out any gas.3) Turn knob on gas control counterclockwiseto “PILOT”.4) Push in control knob all the way and hold inuntil the pilot lights up. Continue to hold thecontrol knob in for about 20 seconds afterthe pilot is lit. Release knob and it will popback up. Pilot should remain lit. If it goes out,repeat steps 1) to 4). If knob does not popup when released, stop and immediatelycall your service technician or gas supplier.If the pilot will not stay lit after several tries,turn the gas control knob to “OFF” and callyour service technician or gas supplier.5) Turn gas control knob counterclock-wise to“ON”.6) Turn the unit on with the remote.NOTE: When using the remote control referto the FireWizard manual for instructions.SHUTDOWNPROCEDURE1) Turn the 3-way switch to the "OFF"position.2) Turn the main gas control clockwise to the"OFF" position to turn off the pilot.3) Turn off all electric power to appliance ifservice is to be performed.NORMAL OPERATINGSOUNDS OFGAS APPLIANCESIt is possible that you will hear some soundsfrom your gas appliance. This is perfectly normaldue to the fact that there are various gaugesand types of steel used within your appliance.Listed below are some examples. All are normaloperating sounds and should not be consideredas defects in your appliance.Burner Tray:The burner tray is positioned directly under theburner tube and logs and is made of a differentgauge material from the rest of the firebox andbody. Therefore, the varying thicknesses of steelwill expand and contract at slightly differentrates which can cause "ticking" and "cracking"sounds. You should also be aware that as thereare temperature changes within the unit thesesounds will likely re-occur. Again, this is normalfor steel fireboxes.Pilot Flame:While the pilot flame is on it can make a veryslight "whisper" sound.Gas Control Valve:As the gas control valve turns ON and OFF, adull clicking sound may be audible, this is normaloperation of a gas regulator or valve.Unit Body/Firebox:Different types and thicknesses of steel willexpand and contract at different rates resultingin some "cracking" and "ticking" sounds will beheard throughout the cycling process.OPERATION DURINGPOWER OUTAGEImportant:If the unit is not used for a prolonged period oftime, we recommend turning the 3-way switch onthe manual control panel to "Off" (manual controlpanel is located on the left hand side of the fireboxbehind the left side exterior brick panel).Also see "Lighting Plate Instructions" for detailson how to turn off the pilot.Rear BurnerSwitch3-way SwitchManual Control PanelLocated on the left hand side of thefirebox behind the exterior brick panel.When in "Remote" position;In the event of a power failure, if the 3-way switchis in the "Remote" position, the unit cannot beoperated with the Remote Control until afterpower is restored.To operate unit during a power failure;NOTE: Both burners when on will operate at thelowest flame setting. The BTU's for NGwill be 32,000 and 27,000 for LP.Front Burner Operation:1) Remove the left side exterior brick panel toaccess to the Manual Control Panel.2) To turn on the front burner, change the 3-wayswitch to "Manual" position.Rear Burner Operation:1) Remove the left side exterior brick panel toaccess to the Manual Control Panel.2) To turn on the rear burner, change the RearBurner Switch to the "On" position. Changingthe switch to the "Off" postion will turn therear burner off.Note: The rear burner will only operate if thefront burner is on.When in "Manual" position;In the event of a power failure, if the 3-way switchis in the "Manual" position the front buner willremain on at the lowest setting and will remainon when power resumes. If the rear burner isnot in use, to operate see "Rear Burner Opera-tion" above.Both burners when on will operate at the lowestflame setting. The BTU's for NG will be 32,000and 27,000 for LP.When power resumes the unit will remain on atthe lowest setting until reset using the remotecontrol.NOTE: When power is restored, reset the3-way switch on the Manual ControlPanel to the "Remote" position to beable to use the FireWizardTM RemoteControl.
