Regency ® P40-1 Direct Vent Gas Fireplace40OPERATIONOPERATING INSTRUCTIONSOPERATINGINSTRUCTIONS1) Read and understand these instructionsbefore operating this appliance.2) Check to see that all wiring is correct andenclosed to prevent possible shock.3) Check to ensure there are no gas leaks.4) Make sure the glass in the door frame isproperly positioned. Never operate theappliance with the glass removed.5) Verify that the venting and cap areunobstructed.6) Ensure that the brick panels are installed.7) Verify log placement. If the pilot cannot beseen when lighting the unit, the logs havebeen incorrectly positioned.8) The unit should never be turned off, and onagain without a minimum of a 60 secondwait.IMPORTANT Gas on/off knob cannot beturned from "PILOT" to "OFF" unless it ispartially depressed.Ensure that the 3 way switch on the manualcontrol panel is in the "Remote" position.1) Push in gas control knob slightly and turnclockwise to “OFF”. Knob cannot be turnedfrom “PILOT” to “OFF” unless knob is pushedin slightly. Do not force.2) Wait five (5) minutes to clear out any gas.3) Turn knob on gas control counterclockwiseto “PILOT”.4) Push in control knob all the way and hold inuntil the pilot lights up. Continue to hold thecontrol knob in for about 20 seconds afterthe pilot is lit. Release knob and it will popback up. Pilot should remain lit. If it goes out,repeat steps 1) to 4). If knob does not popup when released, stop and immediatelycall your service technician or gas supplier.If the pilot will not stay lit after several tries,turn the gas control knob to “OFF” and callyour service technician or gas supplier.5) Turn gas control knob counterclock-wise to“ON”.6) Turn the unit on.NOTE: If using the remote control refer tothe FireWizard manual for instructions.SHUTDOWNPROCEDURE1) Press the ON/OFF switch once.2) The LED will flash.3) Turn the main gas control clockwise to the"OFF" position to turn off the pilot.4) Turn off all electric power to appliance ifservice is to be performed.Only when the pilot holds, without pressurebeing applied to the control knob, reapply thetension springs to the door. The unit mustnot be operated with the tension springsunattached.IMPORTANTTo ignite or reignite the pilot,you must first release thetension springs below the door.LIGHTINGPROCEDURE3-way SwitchManual Control PanelMATCHING REMOTEHANDSET & CONTROLBOX ID CODEThe Remote Control Handset has a set ofunique ID codes that is pre-programmed into itsmemory. This set of ID codes helps to differenti-ate one Remote Control Handset from anotherso that only the control box with a matching IDcode will respond to the appropriate RemoteControl Handset.To ensure the remote control is matched tothe receiver correctly, please follow the stepsbelow:1. Ensure that the Remote Control and the3-way switch located at the appliance areboth in the OFF position.2. Ensure that the pilot is lit and the pilotcontrol knob is in the ON position on theappliance.3. Install the 2 x AAA alkaline batteries into theRemote Control.4. Unplug and re-plug the power cord. Thepower cord is located on the left hand sideof the appliance and will be plugged into thereceptacle.5. Switch the 3-way switch located on the ap-pliance to the REMOTE position.6. Press and hold the PROG and FAN buttonssimultaneously for up to 20 seconds. Duringthis time, the remote will display LC while itis transmitting codes to the receiver. Onceit is successfully transmitted, one will hearthe solenoid click and the burners will comeon. If is does not work the first time, repeatsteps 1 - 6.7. Release both the PROG and FAN buttons.The remote will revert back to normal, butthe burner will still be on.8. Press the ON/OFF button on the remotecontrol 2 times to turn the burner off.9. The remote control is now programmed tothe receiver and the appliance can now beoperated with it.The control box will only learn the Remote IDcodes during the first 30 seconds after poweris applied and will ignore this special commandfrom the Remote after the first 30 seconds.NOTE: This must only be performed by a quali-fied installer.
