Regency ® PG36-5 Gas Log Fireplace 5INSTALLATIONCHECKLIST1) Locate appliance. Refer to the followingsections:a) Locating Your Gas Fireplaceb) Combustible Mantelsc) Mantel Leg Clearancesd) Framing and Finishinge) Flueing2) Assemble Top Standoffs and Top FacingSupport and Side Nailing Strips. Refer to the"Unit Assembly Prior to Installation" section.(NOTE: must be done before installing unitinto fireplace.)3) Install flue, refer to the "HorizontalTermination" & "Vertical Termination"sections.4) Make gas and electrical connections. Testthe pilot. Must be as per diagram. Refer tothe " Pilot Adjustment" section.5) Install standard and optional features. Referto the following sections where applicable:a. Brick Panelsb. Log Set Installationc. Flush Doord. Premium Flush Fronte. Bay Doorf. Hampton Cast Faceplateg. Hampton Cast Grillsh. Remote Controls6) Final check.Before leaving this unit with the customer,the installer must ensure that the appliance isfiring correctly and operation fully explainedto customer.This includes:1) Clocking the appliance to ensure the correctfiring rate (rate noted on label 30,000 Btu/h)after burning appliance for 15 minutes.2) If required, adjusting the primary air to ensurethat the flame does not carbon. First allowthe unit to burn for15-20 min. to stabilize.CAUTION: Any alteration to the product thatcauses sooting or carboning that resultsin damage is not the responsibility of themanufacturer.INSTALLATIONIMPORTANT MESSAGESAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONSThe PG36-NG or PG36-LPG Room SealedFireplace must be installed in accordance withAS5601-2004 and NZS 5261 5261 and theseinstructions. Carefully read all the instructionsin this manual first. Consult the "authorityhaving jurisdiction" to determine the need fora permit prior to starting the installation. It isthe responsibility of the installer to ensurethis fireplace is installed in compliance withmanufacturer's instructions and all applicablecodes.BEFORE YOU STARTNOTE:NOT INTENDED AS A FIREPLACE INSERT.DUE TO HIGH TEMPERATURES, THEAPPLIANCE SHOULD BE LOCATEDOUT OF TRAFFIC AND AWAY FROMFURNITURE AND DRAPERIES.INSTALLATION AND REPAIR SHOULDBE DONE BY A AUTHORISED SERVICEPERSON. THE APPLIANCE SHOULDBE INSPECTED BEFORE USE AND ATLEAST ANNUALLY BY AN AUTHORISEDSERVICE PERSON. MORE FREQUENTCLEANING MAY BE REQUIREDDUE TO EXCESSIVE LINT FROMCARPETING, BEDDING MATERIAL,ETC. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT CONTROLCOMPARTMENTS, BURNERS ANDCIRCULATING AIR PASSAGEWAYSOF THE APPLIANCE BE KEPT CLEAN.WARNING: FAILURE TO INSTALL THISAPPLIANCE CORRECTLY WILL VOIDYOUR WARRANTY AND MAY CAUSE ASERIOUS HOUSE FIRE.CHILDREN AND ADULTS SHOULDBE ALERTED TO THE HAZARDS OFHIGH SURFACE TEMPERATURES,ESPECIALLY THE FIREPLACE GLASS,AND SHOULD STAY AWAY TO AVOIDBURNS OR CLOTHING IGNITION.YOUNG CHILDREN SHOULD BECAREFULLY SUPERVISED WHENTHEY ARE IN THE SAME ROOM AS THEAPPLIANCE.CLOTHING OR OTHER FLAMMABLEMATERIAL SHOULD NOT BE PLACEDON OR NEAR THE APPLIANCE. DO NOTUSE AEROSOLS IN THE VICINITY OFTHIS APPLIANCE.GENERAL SAFETYINFORMATION1) The appliance shall be installed inaccordance with the manufacturer'sinstallation instructions,local gas fittingregulations, municipal building codes,water supply regulations, electrical wiringregulations, with AS5601-2004 (AGA gasinstallation code) NZS 5261 (New Zealand)2) Installation and repair should be doneONLY by an authorised person.3) THIS APPLIANCE IS NOT INTENDED AS AFIREPLACE INSERT. DO NOT CONNECTTO MASONARY FLUE.4) This appliance must be connected tothe specified fl ue and termination capto the outside of the building envelope.Never fl ue to another room or inside abuilding. Make sure that the fl ue is fi ttedas per Flueing instructions.5) Inspect the flueing system annually forblockage and any signs of deterioration.6) Flueing terminals shall not be recessed intoa wall or siding.7) Any safety glass removed for servicing mustbe replaced prior to operating the appliance.8) To prevent injury, do not allow anyone whois unfamiliar with the operation to use thefireplace.9) Wear gloves and safety glasses for protectionwhile doing required maintenance.10) Be aware of electrical wiring locations inwalls and ceilings when cutting holes fortermination.11) Under no circumstances should thisappliance be modified. Parts that have to beremoved for servicing should be replacedprior to operating this appliance.12) Installation and any repairs to this applianceshould be done by an authorised serviceperson. An authorised service person shouldbe called to inspect this appliance annually.Make it a practice to have all of your gasappliances checked annually.13) Do not slam shut or strike the glass door.14) Under no circumstances should any solidfuels (wood, paper, cardboard, coal, etc.)be used in this appliance.15) The appliance area must be kept clear andfree of combustible materials, (gases andother flammable vapours and liquids).
