GENERAL VENTMAINTENANCEConduct an inspection of the venting systemsemi-annually. Recommended areas to inspectas follows:1) Check the Venting System for corrosion inareas that are exposed to the elements.These will appear as rust spots orstreaks, and in extreme cases, holes.These components should be replacedimmediately.2) Remove the Termination Cap, and shine aflashlight down the Vent. Remove any birdnests, or other foreign material.3) Check for evidences of excessivecondensation, such as water droplets formingin the inner liner, and subsequently drippingout the joints, Continuous condensation cancause corrosion of caps, pipe, and fittings.It may be caused by having excessivelateral runs, too many elbows, and exteriorportions of the system being exposed tocold weather.4) Inspect joints, to verify that no pipesections or fittings have been disturbed,and consequently loosened. Also checkmechanical supports such as Wall Straps,or plumbers' tape for rigidity.LOG REPLACEMENTThe unit should never be used with broken logs.Turn off the gas valve and allow the unit to coolbefore opening door to carefully remove thelogs. The pilot light generates enough heat toburn someone. If for any reason a log shouldneed replacement, you must use the properreplacement log. The position of these logsmust be as shown in the diagram under LogInstallation.NOTE: Improper positioning of logs maycreate carbon build-up and will alter the unit’sperformance which is not covered underwarranty.GLASS GASKETIf the glass gasket requires replacement useglass gasket (Part # 936-265) for the Bay Frontand a tadpole gasket for the Flush Front (Part# 936-155).Top View of pilot flameTop View of pilot flameIncorrect flame pattern will have small, probablyyellow flames, not coming into proper contactwith the rear of the burner or thermopile.GOLD-PLATED TRIMThe 24 carat gold plated finish on the trimrequires little maintenance, and need only becleaned with a damp cloth. DO NOT use abrasivematerials or chemical cleaners, as they mayharm the finish and void the warranty. Cleanany fi ngerprints off before turning the uniton. If the top louvers start to discolour,check the door gasket seal and replace ifnecessary.DOOR GLASSYour FPI insert is supplied with high temperature,5 mm Neoceram ceramic glass that will withstandthe highest heat that your unit will produce. Ifyour glass requires cleaning, we recommendusing an approved glass cleaner available atall authorized dealers. Do not use abrasivematerials. Do not clean the glass when hot.In the event that you break your glass by impact,purchase your replacement from an authorizedFPI dealer only, and follow our step-by-stepinstructions for replacement.Warning: Do not operate appliancewith glass panels removed, crackedor broken. Replacement of the glassshould be done by a licensed orqualified service person.Caution: Wear gloves when removingdamaged or broken glass.Flush Glass ReplacementRemove the flush door front (as per instructionsin section "Standard Flush Doo"). Remove the4 glass clips from each corner. Slide in the newreplacement glass. Push the 4 glass clips backonto the frame.If you have an incorrect flame pattern, contactyour FPI dealer for further instructions.
