Since the MFP device contains morethan one device (printer and scanner), it is necessary toorganize proper access of “consumer” applications to thesedevices via the single I/O port. The Samsung Unified Linux Driver package provides anappropriate port sharing mechanism that is used by Samsungprinter and scanner drivers. The drivers address their devicesvia so-called MFP ports. The current status of any MFP port canbe viewed via the Ports Configuration. The port sharingprevents you from accessing one functional block of the MFPdevice, while another block is in use. When you install a new MFP device onto your system, it isstrongly recommended you do this with the assistance of anUnified Driver Configurator. In this case you will be asked tochoose I/O port for the new device. This choice will provide themost suitable configuration for MFP’s functionality. For MFPscanners I/O ports are being chosen by scanner driversautomatically, so proper settings are applied by default.Switches toportsconfiguration.Shows the port type, device connected tothe port and statusShows all of theavailable ports.
