6.1 <Copying>6 CopyingThis chapter gives you step-by-step instructions for copying documents.This chapter includes:• Selecting the paper tray• Copying• Changing the settings for each copy• Changing the default copy settings• Using special copy featuresSelecting the paper trayAfter loading the print media for copy output, you must select the papertray you will use for copy jobs.1 Press Menu until Copy Menu appears on the bottom line of thedisplay and press OK.2 Press Scroll buttons until System Setup appears and press OK.3 Press the Scroll buttons until Paper Setup appears and press OK.4 Press the Scroll buttons until Paper Source appears and pressOK.5 Press the Scroll buttons until the paper tray you want appears andpress OK.6 Press Stop/Clear to return to Standby mode.Copying1 Place an original document on the scanner glass.Customize the copy settings including copy size, darkness, andoriginal type, by using the control panel Menu buttons. See 6.1.If necessary, you can use special copy features, such as Postercopying or 2 Up copying. See 6.3.2 Press Color Start to begin color copying.Or, press Black Start to begin black and white copying.Changing the settings for each copyNoteYou can cancel the copy job during an operation. Press Stop/Clear, and the copying will stop.The buttons on the control panel let you select all basic copy options:darkness, document type and copy size. Set the following options for thecurrent copy job before pressing Stop/Clear to make copies.Reduced/Enlarged copyYou can reduce or enlarge the size of a copied image from 50% to 200%when you copy original documents from the scanner lid.To select from the predefined copy sizes:1 Press Menu until Copy Menu appears on the bottom line of thedisplay and press OK.2 Press Scroll buttons until Copy Feature appears and press OK.3 Press Scroll buttons until Reduce/Enlarge appears and press OK.4 Press the Scroll buttons to select the size setting you want andpress OK.To fine-tune the size of copies:1 Press Menu until Copy Menu appears on the bottom line of thedisplay and press OK.2 Press Scroll buttons until Copy Feature appears and press OK.3 Press Scroll buttons until Reduce/Enlarge appears and press OK.4 Press the Scroll buttons until Custom appears and press OK.5 Press the Scroll buttons to enter the copy size you want. Pressingand holding the button allows you to quickly scroll to the numberyou want.6 Press OK to save the selection.DarknessIf you have an original document containing faint markings and darkimages, you can adjust the brightness to make a copy that is easier toread.1 Press Menu until Copy Menu appears on the bottom line of thedisplay and press OK.2 Press Scroll buttons until Copy Feature appears and press OK.3 Press Scroll buttons until Darkness appears and press OK.4 Press the Scroll buttons to select the contrast mode you want.•Light: works well with dark print.NoteIf you press Stop/Clear while setting the copy options, all of theoptions you have set for the current copy job will be canceledand returned to their default status.NoteWhen you make a reduced copy, black lines may appear at thebottom of your copy.
