59Formatting a memory cardThis function allows the user to select the file naming format.Assigning File Names1. Rotate the mode dial to SETUP mode and the [SETUP1/3] menu will display.2. Select the [FILE NAME] menu by pressing the UP/DOWN button and press the RIGHT button.3. Select a desired sub menu by pressing the UP/ DOWNbutton and press the OK button.[RESET] : After using the reset function, the next filename will be set from 0001 even afterformatting, deleting all or inserting a new memory card.[SERIES] : Under this system, the file name will directly follow the last stored file name,regardless of any actions such as file deletion or formatting.File nameFormatting a Memory Card1. If you run [FORMAT] on the memory, all images, includingthe protected images, will be deleted. Be sure to download important images to your PC beforeformatting the memory. If the memory card is not inserted, the internal memory will be formatted.Be sure to run [FORMAT] on the following types of memory card.- A new memory card, or an unformatted memory card.- A memory card that has a file this camera can t recognize or one that has been takenfrom another camera.Always format the memory card using this camera.
