English 5104 Basic FunctionsAbout RDS broadcastingUsing the RDS (Radio Data System) toreceive FM stationsRDS allows FM stations to send an additionalsignal along with their regular program signals.For example, the stations send their stationnames, as well as information about what type ofprogram they broadcast, such as sports ormusic, etc.When tuned to an FM station which provides theRDS service, the RDS indicator lights up on thedisplay.Description on RDS functionPTY (Program Type) : Displays the type ofprogram currently being broadcast.PS NAME (Program Service Name) : Indicatesthe name of broadcasting station and iscomposed of 8 characters.RT (Radio Text) : Decodes the text broadcastby a station (if any) and is composed ofmaximum 64 characters.CT (Clock Time) : Decodes the real time clockfrom the FM frequency. Some stations may nottransmit PTY, RT or CT information thereforethis may not be displayed in all cases.TA (Traffic Announcement) : TA ON/OFF itshows that the traffic announcement is inprogress.NOTERDS may not operate correctly if the stationtuned is not transmitting RDS signal properlyor if the signal strength is weak.•••••✎To show the RDS signalsYou can see the RDS signals the station sendson the display.Press the RDS DISPLAY button whilelistening to an FM station.Each time you press the button, thedisplay change to show you thefollowing information : PS NAME RT CT FrequencyPS(ProgramService)While searching, appears and then the stationnames will be displayed.
