60Focusing methodsChanging the Focusing methodsYou can select a focusing method appropriate to thesubject you are photographing.1 In the Shooting mode, press [MENU].2 Select Shooting 2 ( 2/ 2) AF Modean option.Single AF When you press [Shutter] half way down, thefocus fixes in one position.ContinuousAFWhen you hold the [Shutter] half-way down, thefocus adjusts continually as the subject changesposition.ManualFocus Adjust the focus manually by turning the focus ring.AF PriorityWhen you use the AF focusing function, the AF Priorityfunction prevents the shutter from firing if the focus isnot appropriately set.1 In the Shooting mode, press [MENU].2 Select Shooting 2 ( 2) AF Priorityan option.Off Camera takes a shot regardless of thefocus.OnThe camera takes a shot only if the focusis set correctly when you press the shutterbutton. Even if the focus is set correctlywhen you press the shutter half way, thecamera will not take the shot if the focusis not set correctly when you press theshutter button fully.• If your lens has an [AF/MF] switch, you can set the lens toMF and adjust the focus manually.• If there is no AF/MF switch on the lens, you can switch tomanual focus by selecting Manual Focus in the AF modemenu.• The selectable option may differ according to the lens inuse.• When adjusting the focus manually, the picture may appearblurred if you don't set the focus accurately. Please take apicture after setting the focus accurately. (p. 32).• You can also set the AF/MF function directly by pressing[ ] on top of the directional button while in Shootingmode.Even with AF Priority on, the Continuous and theBurst Shot options let the shutter fire whether thefocus is set correctly or not.
