30 Section 4: Menu NavigationSection 4Navigating Your PDAYour i830 provides the power of a personal computer withexceptional portability and integration. Unlocking its powerbegins with customizing the i830 so that it becomes anextension of your desktop or laptop computer.The i830 is powered by Windows Mobile 2003 Software forPocket PC, providing the power and familiarity of MicrosoftWindows. Pocket versions of popular Microsoft applicationssuch as Word, Excel, Windows Media Player® and Outlook®eliminate the need to learn new software.Menu TypesThe start menu contains links to all the applications andsettings information, similar to a Windows based PC system.To access the start menu, simply use the stylus to tap in theupper left corner of the screen on the word Start. A menu list isdisplayed, and from this pull down type menu, all otherapplications and settings can be accessed. There are two menusavailable in the i830 menu options. They are:• Start Menu• New MenuThe Start menu options allow you to configure what isdisplayed when you tap the Start menu located in the upperleft corner of the screen.The New menu options allow you to configure what isdisplayed when you tap on the New menu located in thebottom left corner of the screen.Launcher/Task Manager31Section 4: Menu NavigationSection 4Launcher/Task ManagerThe Launcher/Task Manager is a task and file launcher withgreat additional features. Programs, games, utilities, and filescan all be launched from customized pop‐up windows usingyour stylus or function keys located on your i830.Opening LauncherYou can open the Launcher application two ways. Either pressthe key on the i830, or follow the steps below to access theapplication using menu selection.1. Tap Start located in the upper left corner of the screen.2. Tap Programs.3. Tap Launcher. The Launcher pop-up window displays.Launcher GroupsWhen you open the Launcher application, a Group windowdisplays. Your phone has the following default pop‐upwindows for the Launcher application:• MITs• Mobile Office• Utilities• Games• Control Panel
