54 Section 8: Changing Your SettingsSection 8i830 SettingsThe Settings menus for your i830 allow you to configure orchange how many of your phone’s features or functions appearor work. Some of the settings on these menus are associatedwith shortcuts or hotkeys on your phone and can be quicklyaccessed for your convenience.For example, the Today Screen has shortcuts for OwnerInformation and Bluetooth connections, while the LauncherApplication, accessed by pressing the key, displaysshortcuts for Power and Screen settings. Accordingly, somceSettings available on the Personal, System, and Connectionstabs are discussed features are presented in this manual.Settings that are not easily associated with other applications orfeatures of your phone are discussed here. They are not listedin a specific order; however, some settings are grouped withtopics that include them.If you don’t see a setting that your looking for discussed here,check the Index, which begins on page 184, for a completelisting of all settings for your phone.Buttons SettingsThe Buttons setting allows you to assign your favoriteprograms to your phone’s hardware buttons:1. Tap Start located in the upper left corner of the screen.2. Tap Settings, then tap the Personal tab.3. Tap the Buttons icon.4. Tap the icon located at the topof your screen. A menu displayswith sliders to adjust both the PDAand ringer volumes.2. Using the stylus, tap the desiredlevel on the slider located underVolume. The left slider controls thePDA volume and the right slidercontrols the ringer volume.3.
