Section 2: Understanding Your Phone2I: Using Your Phone’s Voice Services 77Digit DialDigit Dialing allows you use your Sprint PCS Phone to dial valid NorthAmerican phone numbers simply by speaking each digit.Tips for digit dialing Digit Dialing works best in quieter environments Say each digit clearly. However, there is no need to pause betweendigits. The phone recognizes only the digits one, two, three, four, five, six,seven, eight, nine, zero, and oh. Therefore, you must say each digitin the number. The phone can not recognize numbers such as "oneeight hundred" for "1-800." Say "one-eight-zero-zero" instead. The phone only recognizes valid North American phone numbers. If your phone does not usually recognize you correctly when you aredigit dialing, you may improve recognition accuracy by adapting thesystem to your voice. See the section "Adapting Digit Dialing" fordetails.To place a call using digit dialing1. Press and hold down for a few seconds. The phone promptsyou for a command.2. Say Digit Dial. The phone prompts you to say the number.3. Pronouncing each digit distinctly, without pausing between digits.4. If the phone asks you, "Did You Say," followed by the correctnumber, say "Yes." You can also select the correct number fromthose displayed on the screen by pressing on the correct number.The phone will then dial the number.5. If the phone asks you, "Did You Say," followed by an incorrectnumber, say "No." If there are other alternatives, the phone willprompt you with the next one. You can also use the navigation keyup and down buttons to select the correct number from the choicelist, and then press to dial.In some cases, the phone might ask you to repeat a number. Make surethat the number is a valid North American phone number and then saythe number again. If the number isn't valid, or if the phone still doesn'tunderstand the number on the second try, it will not place a call.
