38MeteringIf you cannot obtain suitable exposure conditions, you can changethe metering method to take brighter pictures.[Multi] ( ) : Exposure will be calculatedbased on an average ofthe available light in theimage area. However, thecalculation will be biasedtowards the centre of theimage area. This is suitablefor general use.[Spot] ( ) : Only the rectangular area in the centre of the LCDmonitor will be metered for light. This is suitablewhen the subject in the centre is exposed correctly,regardless of the back lighting.[Center Weighted] ( ): Exposure will be calculated based on an average ofthe available light in the image area. However, thecalculation will be biased towards the centre of theimage area. This is suitable for taking a picture ofsmall object like a flower or insects.Ä If the subject is not the centre of the focus area, do not use thespot metering as this may result in an exposure error. In thiscircumstance, it is better to use exposure compensation.MeteringBack MoveFunctions ( )Drive modeYou can select single, continuous, motion capture, and AEB (AutoExposure Bracketing).[Single] ( ) : Take one picture only.[Continuous] ( ) : Images will be takencontinuously until theshutter button isreleased.[Motion Capture] ( ) : This takes 5 shotsper second, whenthe shutter is pressed and held down. Aftercompleting the continuous shooting, imagesare saved and the images play back on theRear LCD. The maximum number of shots is30 and the image size is fixed as VGA.[AEB] ( ) : Take three pictures in a series in differentexposures: standard exposure (0.0EV),short exposure (-1/2EV) and over exposure(+1/2EV).DriveBack Move High resolution and picture quality increases file saving time,which increases stand-by time. If the [Continuous], [Motion Capture], [AEB] sub menu is selected,the flash will be off automatically. If less than 3 pictures are available in the memory, the AEBshooting is not available. It is best to use a tripod for the AEB shooting as the time to saveeach image file is longer and blurring caused by camera shakemay occur.
