030Using the camera buttons to set the cameraThe recording mode function can be set up by using the camera buttons.Used for turning the camera’s poweron / off. If there is no operation duringthe speci¿ed time, the camera's powerwill be turned off automatically to savebattery life. Refer to page 67 for moreinformation about the auto power offfunction.POWER buttonFocus lockTo focus on a subject not positioned in the centre of the picture, usethe focus lock function.3. Recompose the pictureand fully depress theSHUTTER button.1. The image to becaptured.2. Press the SHUTTERbutton halfway andfocus on the subject. Using the Focus Lock1. Ensure the subject is in the centre of the autofocus frame.2. Press the SHUTTER button halfway. When the green auto focusframe lights up, it means the camera is focused on the subject.Be careful not to press the SHUTTER button all the way down toavoid taking an unwanted picture.3. With the SHUTTER button still pressed down only halfway, movethe camera to recompose your picture as desired, and thenpress the SHUTTER button completely to take the picture. If yourelease your ¿nger from the SHUTTER button, the focus lockfunction will be cancelled.
