20TO MAINTAIN THE LIFE OF THE LAMP, ONCEYOU TURN THE PROJECTOR ON, WAIT ATLEAST FIVE MINUTES BEFORE TURNING ITOFF.Power off? disappears after 4 seconds.Turning Off the ProjectorPress the ON/STAND-BY button on the top control oron the remote control, and Power off? appears on thescreen.Press the ON/STAND-BY button again to turn off theprojector. The POWER indicator starts to blink red, andthe cooling fans keep running. (You can select the levelof fans’ quietness and speed. See “Fan” on page 56.)At this time, you can unplug the AC power cord even ifthe fans are still running.123 When the projector has cooled down enough, thePOWER indicator stops blinking and you can turn onthe projector. Note:• When the Direct on function is set to On, the projectorwill be turned on automatically by connecting the ACpower cord to an AC outlet (p.51).• The running speed of cooling fans is changed accordingto the temperature inside the projector.• Do not put the projector in a case before the projector iscooled enough.• If the WARNING indicator blinks or lights red, see“WARNING indicator” on page 60.• While the POWER indicator is blinking, the lamp is beingcooled down and the projector cannot be turned on. Waituntil the POWER indicator stops blinking to turn on theprojector again.• For assisting the cooling fans' operation, the projectoris equipped with a large capacitor. While the projectoris operating, the capacitor charges electricity. Whendisconnecting the AC plug from AC outlet, cooling fansstart to run 1 minute until the capacitor is discharged.• The projector can be turned on after the POWERindicator turns red. The waiting time to restart will beshortened when the normal power-off processing for fancooling is completed, compared with the time the ACpower cord is immediately unplugged after the power-off.DO NOT OPERATE THE PROJECTORCONTINUOUSLY WITHOUT REST.CONTINUOUS USE MAY RESULT INSHORTENING THE LAMP LIFE. TURN OFF THEPROJECTOR AND LET IT STAND FOR ABOUTAN HOUR IN EVERY 24 HOURS.Basic OperationYou can disconnect the power cord from thewall outlet or turn off the breaker even duringprojection without pressing the ON/STAND-BYbutton.Direct OFF Function Note:When using the Direct OFF function, youcan not restart the projector immediatelyafter the power is disconnected. If theexternal power supply is suddenly cutoff, the fans stop immediately. The lampremains high temperature and needs to becooled.
