72 Programmable I/O Lines TM8000 3DK Hardware Developer’s Kit Application ManualSeptember 2003 © Tait Electronics Ltd3.2.5 External Alert 1 and 2Application These two output signals are used to indicate the reception of a call to anexternally connected device. The alert can be programmed to occur forspecific call types. The AUX_GPIO4 line of the auxiliary connector can be fitted with a powerMOSFET in order to directly connect signal indicators to the radio(e.g. flashing light, buzzer, horn relay). With the other GPIO lines, if nopower MOSFET is fitted to the AUX_GPIO4 line, the signal characteristicsspecified in “Description of the Radio Interfaces” apply. Two different external alert types (external alert 1 and 2) can be specified, and either none, external alert 1, external alert 2 or both can be activated. For more information on external alerts refer to the online help of theprogramming software.Configuration 1. If you want to connect to an external alert device such as horn orlights relay, follow the instructions in “Connecting an External AlertDevice” on page 133.2. Configure AUX_GPIO4 (when connection to an external alertdevice) or any other output line and associate it with this action.Set the active state to be high or low (as required).3. On the Alerts form, configure external alert 1 and/or 2 (delay, duration, mode).Timing The timing of the external alert signal activation and deactivation isdetermined by the settings in the programming application.Description When the radio receives a call (individual call 1 or 2, priority call, group callor emergency call), which goes unanswered for the specified amount oftime, the radio indicates the incoming call to the external device via theoutput line according to the currently programmed settings for the call alertfunction. When the call is answered (i.e. external PTT activated or PTT pressed), theradio will stop indicating the incoming call to the external device.Related Actions None.
