14 TASCAM CD-RW50003 - Playback operationsThis section gives details of the basic operations youcan perform when using the CD-RW5000 to playback CDs.Playing back CDs on the CD-RW5000 is similar toplaying back CDs on any other CD player.The CD-RW5000 can play back ordinarypre-recorded commercial CDs, and CD-R discs, aswell as CD-RW discs recorded on the CD-RW5000.These last discs may not be playable on other CDplayers.Also, note that unlike some other CD players, but incommon with other TASCAM devices, the PLAYkey on the CD-RW5000 is used to restart playbackafter the PAUSE key has been used to pause play-back.3.1 Display modesThe different display modes available when playingback a CD are: track elapsed time (TRACK TIME)with the level meters displayed, track remaining time(REMAIN TIME TRACK), disc remaining time(TOTAL REMAIN TIME), and track elapsed time(TRACK TIME) without the level meters displayed.Press the DISPLAY key ([6] or [34]) to cyclebetween these modes.3.2 Playing back a selected trackUse the number buttons on the remote control unit toenter a track number. If the number of the track isgreater than nine, press the keys of the two digits inorder to enter the 2-digit number.• If the CD-RW5000 is already playing, the playbackwill jump to the start of the selected track.• If the CD-RW5000 is in pause mode, the playbackposition will be at the start of the selected track inpause mode.• If the CD-RW5000 is stopped, playback will startfrom the start of the selected track.3.3 Repeating playback1 To repeat one track, press the REPEAT key[32] on the remote control unit once to showREPEAT 1 on the display. The currenttrack will continue to be repeated untilstopped.2 To repeat the whole disc, press the REPEATkey [32] on the remote control unit twice toshowREPEAT ALL on the display. The discwill play to the end and then restart playingfrom the beginning until stopped.3.3.1 Programmed playbackTo program a sequence of tracks for playback, followthe steps below:1 Make sure that playback is stopped.2 Press the PGM key [33], andPROGRAMis shown on the display.3 Enter the numbers of the tracks that youwant included in the programmed play,using the number keys on the remote controlunit [31].The step number of the programmed track appearsbriefly, and the display shows the wordPROGRAM flashing at the left of the display.NOTEAs explained earlier, pressing two numberkeys in quick succession will enter that 2-digittrack number. Leave a pause between theentry of the different track numbers to sepa-rate the program steps.4 Start the programmed playback by pressingthe PLAY key on the main unit [15] or on theremote control unit [43].5 Stop programmed playback by pressing theSTOP key on the main unit [14] or on theremote control unit [42].While a programmed playback sequence is active,even while playback is stopped, the display showsthe wordPROGRAM at the left of the display.6 Cancel programmed playback by pressingthe STOP key on the main unit [14] or on theremote control unit [42] twice in quicksuccession.Opening the disc tray will also cancel the pro-grammed playback.It is possible to program up to 20 program steps forprogrammed playback. If more than 20 programsteps are entered, the display showsFULL.
