TASCAM MiNiSTUDIO CREATOR 174 EFFECT areaUse this to select a preset effect to apply to thesignals input through the inputs (1, 3, y and u).The indicator lights for the selected effect.Options: RADIO, ECHO, MALE, FEMALE,CHOPPER, EXPERTNOTEIf the “EXPERT” is selected, the EFFECT settingson EXPERT page would be assigned.5 REVERB areaUse this to select a preset reverb to apply to thesignals input through the inputs (1, 3, y and u).The indicator lights for the selected reverb.Options: HALL, ROOM, LIVE, STUDIO, PLATE, EXPERTNOTEIf the “EXPERT” is selected, the REVERB settingson EXPERT page would be assigned.6 Triggered sound output volume slidersUse these to adjust the volume of triggered sounds.Slide to MIN to mute or toward MAX to amplify the sound.7 Repeat buttonsWhen a repeat button is on, the arrows light and therepeat function for the triggered sound is enabled.8 Trigger sound statusDrag and drop audio files to load them.i When a PON trigger pad (1/2/3) has an audiofile loaded, the name of that file is shown in thetrigger sound status area and it lights orange.i When there is a problem with a loaded audiofile, the name of that file is shown in the triggersound status area but the area appears gray.i When no audio file is loaded, the trigger soundstatus area appears gray.EXPERT pageCAUTIONThe EQUALIZER, COMPRESSOR and REVERB haveno effect on the external input jack (i).NOTE• Use the mouse to click and drag parameterknobs up and down to adjust them.• Click buttons with the mouse to turn them onand off.1 EQUALIZER areaThis unit has a 4-band equalizer (with HIGH, HIGHMID, LOW MID and LOW bands).Use the equalizer to increase or decrease the levelsof specific frequency ranges. This can be used, for example, to enhance the sound of individualinstruments, to adjust the balance of a widefrequency range and to cut specific unwantedfrequencies. (See “EQUALIZER (4-band parametricEQ) display area overview” on page 18.)2 COMPRESSOR areaWhen the input volume exceeds the THRESHOLDlevel, the input volume is compressed, reducingoutput volume variation. For example, by reducing the levels of loud sounds, lower level sounds become relatively louder, creating a more even volume level throughoutand a more sustained sound. (See “COMPRESSORdisplay area overview” on page 19.)NOTEWhen the compressor is off, the compressorcurve will appear but the meters will not beactive.3 EFFECT areaUse this to select a preset effect to apply to thesignals input through the inputs (1, 3, y andu). Use the BALANCE knob to adjust the dry/wet signal balance. (See “EFFECT display areaoverview” on page 19.)4 BUFFER SIZE setting area (Windows only)The Windows driver for the unit stores the audiosignals sent to and from the computer tempo-rarily in a buffer. This buffer size can be adjusted.Smaller buffer sizes result in less audio signaldelay (latency), but require high-speedprocessing by the computer. If the processing cannot keep up, for example, due to other system operations, clicking andpopping noises might occur and the audio signalmight even drop out.Increasing the buffer size will stabilize operationand suppress negative effects on audio signals, but the delay in audio signals sent to thecomputer will increase. You can use the slider on the panel to adjust thebuffer size, according to the use conditions.Use the slider to select fixed values that increasefrom left to right.Options: 1024, 512, 256, 128, 64
