If a ball joint and or rod endis worn out, then all should be replaced asa set.1: Visually inspect each rod end for any signs ofplay between the ball and the nylon or brassbushing in the housing.2: If any play is evident, then the rod end is worn outand should be replaced. Refer to section Replacethe Ball Joints, Tie Rods, and Drag Link forinformation regarding replacing ball joints.3: Reconnect the main positive and negative cablesat the batteries.4: Remove the blocks from behind the wheels.5: Release the parking brake and test drive.This section is one section of a complete servicemanual. If a ball joint and or rod endis worn out, then all should be replaced asa set.1: Tie off the front wheels so that they cannot turn.2: While watching the ball joints, rapidly rotate thesteering wheel to the left and right.3: If the housing moves up or down on the shaftthen the ball joint is worn out and should bereplaced. Refer to section Replacing a Ball Jointfor information regarding replacing ball joints.4: Untie the front wheels.5: Reconnect the main positive and negative cablesat the batteries.6: Remove the blocks from behind the wheels.7: Release the parking brake and test drive.
