Thisprocedure requires specific repairskills, lifting equipment and asuitable workshop. Attemptingthis procedure without theseskills and tools could result indeath or serious injury andsignificant component damage.Dealer service is stronglyrecommended.Note: When removing a hose assembly or fitting,the O-ring (if equipped) on the fitting and/or hoseend must be replaced. All connections must betorqued to specification during installation. Refer toSpecifications, Hydraulic Hose and Fitting TorqueSpecifications.1 Remove the platform. Refer to RepairProcedure, How to Remove the Platform.2 Remove the cables from the platformcentering link (index #1) and upper cablebridge at the hydraulic tank side of themachine.3 Remove the cables from the number 5 innerarm (index #2) and lay the cables off to theside.Component damage hazard.Cables can be damaged if theyare kinked or pinched.4 Secure both ends of the number 5 inner andouter arms (index #2 and #18) together with astrap or other suitable device.5 Attach a lifting strap from an overhead craneto the number 5 inner and outer arms (index#2 and #18) at the steer end of the machine.Do not apply any lifting pressure.6 Attach a lifting strap from an overhead craneto the number 5 inner and outer arms (index#2 and #18) at the non-steer end of themachine. Do not apply any lifting pressure.7 Remove the pin retaining fasteners from bothnumber 5 pivot pins (index #4) at the non-steer end of the machine. Do not remove thepins.8 Remove the pin retaining fasteners from bothnumber 5 pivot pins (index #19) at the steerend of the machine. Do not remove the pins.9 Use a slide hammer to remove both number5 pivot pins (index #4) from the non-steer endof the machine.10 Use a slide hammer to remove both number5 pivot pins (index #19) from the steer end ofthe machine.11 Carefully remove the number 5 inner andouter arms (index #2 and #18) from themachine.Crushing hazard. The number5 inner and outer arms couldbecome unbalanced and fallwhen they are removed fromthe machine if not properlysupported by the overheadcrane.Note: If further disassembly of the scissor arm pairis required, refer to Repair Procedure, How toDisassemble a Scissor Arm Pair.12 Remove the pin retaining fasteners from theupper lift cylinder rod-end pivot pin (index#21). Do not remove the pin.13 Attach a lifting strap from an overhead craneto the lifting eye at the rod end of the upper liftcylinder.
