October 2021 Service and Repair ManualBoom ComponentsPart No. 1303145GT GTH™-1056 295 Start the machine and retract the boom8 inches / 20,3 cm.Note: This step is not required if only replacing the1-2-3 extend chain.Note: Verify the retaining fasteners that hold the 0-1-2 chain anchor is accessible.6 Working at the fork end of the boom, loosenthe chain anchors and disconnect them fromthe chains.Note: Always replace the cotter pin with a newone.7 Secure a rope to the end of the chain beingreplaced.Note: Verify the rope is securely attached to thechain. If the rope becomes disconnected from thechain during the removal process, installation willbe extremely difficult.8 At the pivot end of the boom, removeretaining fasteners securing the step anchors.9 To replace the lower (0-1-2) extend chains,use a pry-bar at the pivot end of the boom tolift the back edge of the number 2 boom tubeup. Use blocks or shims to chock the boomtube up.Note: This step is not required if only replacing the1-2-3 extend chain.10 Remove the chain from the boom.Bodily injury hazard. The chainwill begin falling out of theboom on its own after a certainamount has been removed andnot properly supported by therope when it is removed fromthe machine.11 Remove the step anchors from the chain.12 Attach the step anchors to the chain.Note: Always replace the cotter pin with a newone.13 Attach the chain to the rope running throughthe boom.14 Working at the fork end of the boom, use therope to carefully pull the chain through theboom just until the end of the chain isaccessible. Remove the rope from the chain.
