Thisprocedure requires specific repairskills, lifting equipment and asuitable workshop. Attemptingthis procedure without theseskills and tools could result indeath or serious injury andsignificant component damage.Dealer service is stronglyrecommended.Note: When removing a hose assembly or fitting,the O-ring (if equipped) on the fitting and/or hoseend must be replaced. All connections must betorqued to specification during installation. Refer toSpecifications, Hydraulic Hose and Fitting TorqueSpecifications.1 Remove the extension cylinder. Refer toRepair Procedure, How to Remove theExtension Cylinder.2 Remove the boom. Refer to RepairProcedure, How to Remove the Boom.3 Select a lift cylinder. Remove the fastenerssecuring the lift cylinder rod-end pivot pin tothe boom.4 Using a lifting strap from an overhead crane,support the lift cylinder. Do not apply anylifting pressure.5 Use a soft metal drift to remove the liftcylinder rod-end pivot pin. Remove thecylinder from the boom.Crushing hazard. The cylindercould become unbalanced andfall if not properly supportedwhen removed from themachine.6 Repeat this procedure beginning with step3 for the other lift cylinder.7 Remove the fastener securing the fork levelcylinder rod-end pivot pin to the fork framemount.8 Use a soft metal drift to remove the rod-endpivot pin.9 Attach a lifting strap from an overhead craneto the barrel end of the fork level cylinder.Support the cylinder. Do not apply any liftingpressure.10 Tag, disconnect and plug the fork levelcylinder hoses from the cylinder manifolds.Cap the fittings.Bodily injury hazard. Sprayinghydraulic oil can penetrate andburn skin. Loosen hydraulicconnections very slowly to allowthe oil pressure to dissipategradually. Do not allow oil tosquirt or spray.Component damage hazard.Hoses can be damaged if theyare kinked or pinched.11 Remove the fasteners securing the fork levelcylinder barrel-end pivot pin to the boom.12 Use a soft metal drift to remove the pivot pin.Remove the cylinder from the machine.Crushing hazard. The cylindercould fall if not properlysupported when the pivot pin isremoved from the machine.13 Remove the inspection cover at the pivot endof the boom.
