UndercarriageDisassembly andAssemblyChapter OverviewThis chapter provides disassembly and assemblyprocedures for the undercarriage assemblies.Personal SafetyImproper or incomplete maintenance/repair of a CompactTrack Loader can be dangerous and may result inmachine damage, injury or death.Do not attempt to perform any type of repair ormaintenance on a Compact Track Loader until you haveread and fully understood the information in this manual.Refer to the Operation and Maintenance manual forinstructions regarding proper machine operationtechniques before operating any Compact Track Loader.Prior to performing any type of service work on aCompact Track Loader, read and understandChapter 1 (Product Safety) for personal safetyinformation.Machine PreparationAccidental machine starting can cause injury ordeath to personnel working on a Compact TrackLoader.As a precaution, disconnect the battery cables fromthe battery terminals, tape the battery clamps andremove the key from the ignition switch prior toperforming any service work on a Compact TrackLoader.Place a “Do Not Operate” tag prominently on themachine to inform personnel that the machine isbeing worked on.Undercarriage Disassemblyand Assembly ProceduresDisassembly and assembly procedures are providedfor the following undercarriage components.• Drive Sprocket• Drive Motor• Wheel Replacement• Track removal and installation (see Ch. 11)Note: Procedures are provided for only thoseundercarriage components listed above. However, otherhelpful information can be obtained from the machinespecific parts manual.Sprocket Removal andInstallationThe tools required for sprocket removal andinstallation are listed in Table 10-1.
