Operator's Manual Second Edition • Third PrintingInspections38 S® -80 XC ™ • S® -85 XC ™ Part No. 1311085GTTest the Drive Enable System36 Press down the foot switch and lower theboom to the stowed position.37 Rotate the turntable until the boom moves pastone of the non-steer wheels.Result: The drive enableindicator light should flashwhile the boom is anywherein the range shown.38 Move the drive control handle off center.Result: The drive function should not operate.39 Move and hold the drive enable toggle switchto either side and slowly move the drivecontrol handle off center.Result: The drive function should operate.Note: When the drive enable system is in use, themachine may drive in the opposite direction thatthe drive and steer control handle is moved.Use the color-coded directionarrows on the platform controlsand the drive chassis to identifythe direction of travel.Test Limited Drive Speed40 Press down the foot switch.41 Raise the boom approximately 15° abovehorizontal.42 Slowly move the control handle to full driveposition.Result: The maximum achievable drive speedwith the boom extended should not exceed0.73 ft/22 cm per second.43 Lower the boom to the stowed position.44 Extend the boom 18 inches/46 cm.45 Slowly move the control handle to full driveposition.Result: The maximum achievable drive speedwith the boom extended should not exceed0.73 ft/22 cm per second.If the drive speed with the boom raised orextended exceeds 0.73 ft/22 cm per second,immediately tag and remove the machine fromservice.
