Basic settings 42Inputs MenuFour AV source devices (providing picture and ana-logue sound signals) can be connected to the DVD sur-round receiver; alternative input sockets can be assignedto these source devices on the K6; these inputs (co-axialor optical) are suitable for digital signals. If the K6 is set up in this way the signal from the digitalsource device is accepted and processed instead of theanalogue stereo input signal. The alternative inputs are assigned in the 'Inputs Menu'.Digital inputsThe on-screen menu lists the digital inputs of the K6 onthe left - DIG opt. and DIG coax. Each digital input can be assigned to one of the fol-lowing AV inputs:--- TV VCR/TVB STB AUX-AV--- no assignmentSTB set-top boxCalibration:When an external source device providing an analoguesound signal is connected to the K6, the best possiblereproduction quality can only be obtained if the ana-logue / digital converter of the K6 is matched accuratelyto the output level of the source device. The K6 features an automatic calibration function tocarry out this process. This is the calibration procedure:1. Select the desired analogue audio or AV sourcedevice and play a fortissimo (extremely loud) pas-sage of music.2. Call up the 'Inputs Menu', move to Calibrationstart and press the button.3. The screen displays the active message as long asthe calibration process continues.NotesThe automatic calibration function can be used for allexternal analogue audio and AV source devices(TAPE 1, AUX 1, AUX 2 / PHONO, STB, TV,VCR / TVB and AUX / AV), provided that you have notassigned a digital input to that socket. We recommendthat you carry out the procedure for all devices con-nected to these inputs. The integral tuner is already calibrated correctly; the K6therefore does not allow you to calibrate this sourcedevice. If, in spite of calibration, a source device shows signsof overloading (distortion), you will see the followingmessage displayed briefly on the integral screen:'O V E R L O A DO V E R L O A DO V E R L O A DO V E R L O A D '.If this happens, the analogue/digital converter needs tobe re-calibrated to suit the source device in question.
